I was very proud of the music industry last night.

How many times have you watched the Grammy Awards and it been nothing but cookie cutter performances by cookie cutter artists. And yet last night record of the year went to a woman who is in my mind one of the greatest artists in recent memory Amy Winehouse. Album of the year? Herbie Hancock! Herbie Hancock! I mean really, that is awesome.

It was so refreshing to see a music awards show with only one appearance by an American Idol winner (Carrie Underwood, arguably the best of the Idol winners) and no appearances by Brittany, Christina, or any Simpson- very nice.

And I’m so happy for the Nashville Symphony- winning big at the Grammy’s and well deserved.
