We went camping yesterday/last night with a coworker of the husband and they showed me a slice of American life I have never been aware of.
Brace yourselves- this is a big one.
Did you know that there are people in the world who have never been camping, never had a s’more- much less a roasted marshmallow, never been fishing, never even set up a tent?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I did not know that these type of people existed! I had heard of them in folk tales and stories of the like but never before had I encountered one in person. An experience to be relished I assure you.
I’m not sure at what point I realized that I was dealing with noobs- perhaps when the 4 year old’s fishing pole was unpackaged and we had a “casting” lesson. Or when the tent came out and hilarity ensued.
Apparently, if you’ve never been camping you have no reason to know how to assemble a tent.
I was told that had we not been there, youtube was going to be consulted…. I found one for them- for next time.
Then we built a fire and introduced these fine folks to s’mores. Real ones- not the kind from a microwave.
It was love at first bite.
All in all, not a bad night. Our new tent was hot as two cats getting freaky in a wool sock but we managed.
Can’t wait to get out again!
Sounds like you had a great time! I love camping. We used to go all the time when I was a kid. I haven’t been camping in a long time though. Perhaps we’ll have to work that into the schedule soon!
