Don’t Billikens deserve modern Swedish furnishings as well?

I’m still working on the rest (actually I might break it up into two more posts seeing as I can’t shut the hell up and it’s getting ridiculously long) of the Road Trip ’09 recap but felt the need to interject this little bit of incredulity.

How does St. Louis not have an IKEA?

How?

We just moved from Tampa where they just opened (actually the week or two after I left) another store.  Let’s not mention the fact that there is another one an hour and a half away in Orlando.

From what I can see, the closest store from St. Louis is in Chicago.  Unacceptable.

I need a new set of bed slats (that little piece of plastic had no hope of living long what with Bronco and his leaps onto the bed at a full run) and I’ll be damned if I’m going to pay $600 in shipping for a $50 set of slats.

What did St. Louis ever do to IKEA?  Did IKEA’s sister marry a guy from Indiana and then got butthurt over St. Louis calling them hoosiers and not as a term of endearment?

Is Billiken a naughty word in Swedish?

I just don’t get it.

I guess I’ll have to get home by way of Atlanta next week.

Grrrr…
